Whiteboard online - saving files issues

  • Hi,
I’ve been trying to figure out how to save Whiteboard online presentations on different devices and experiences issues when saving to “This PC”.

Using a Mac, I only succeed in saving my files using Chrome. Brave, Safari and Firefox just don’t work. I can only a window and choose between .qb .olf and .pdf. PDF works, but the other ones not.

Using an iPad, I can’t save any File in .qb and .olf no matter which browser I use.

Is there a way to solve the problem?

    Greetings,
    Stéphane

  • @stéphanelf
We apologize for the problem you've been facing with our Whiteboard online.

For a better experience use Whiteboard Online/Classroom, recommended use a supported device/ supported browsers with our system requirements. You can check the information via https://wiki.myviewboard.com/Classroom#System_requirements

We have put Safari planned in our roadmap. Stay tuned, and please write to us if you require any more assistance.

    Thank you,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answer!
The point is that all teachers at my school work with iPads. Not being able to work properly with the Whiteboard Online is a big deal. At the moment, we can’t even use the iPadOS WhiteboardBasic as an alternative. It is far too “basic”.

Are you working on a iPadOS and macOS version of the whiteboard?

    Greetings,
    Stéphane

  • @kavi-lo-myviewboard-com
Thank you very much for the last Whiteboard Online version. It looks like it'a now supporting Brave and Safari on MacOS.

A full functional iPadOS App with .olf format support would be great!

    Greetings,
    Stéphane

  • @stéphanelf
Thanks for sharing the information. We are glad that Whiteboard online currently can fit your need. For Whiteboard for iOS, our engineering team is working on olf integration as planned. Please stay tuned.

    Best wishes,
    Kavi Lo

  • Hi,
we're facing another issue with the Whiteboard Online!
Instead of saving the File in .olf format, the whiteboard saves a .zip file (xxxx.olf.zip)
This file can't be opened. You can extract the file, but even the extracted file can't be opened.

We're facing this issue on iPads (Brave, Safari browsers) and on Windows PCs.

    Is it a bug?

    Greetings,
    Stéphane

    Hello @StéphaneLF,
We cannot reproduce your issue on our end. Can you check whether you click "Save as" and the default file type of file manager set "olf" as follows? and if you choose Cloud Drive, please make sure you select Olf as the saved file format.

Also, please help to see if you remove the .zip and try to open the file. Will it work?

For further investigation, please provide the device information and screenshots of reproduce steps. Thank you again.

    Best regards,
    Kavi

    Hi Kavi,

you can see the iPad issue in following video
Removing the .zip doesn't work and extracting the zip file creates a "Content.json" file I can't open.

  • @stéphanelf

Thank you for taking the time to share that with me so I can make it right. I’ve shared your feedback with our team, and the team is making it a new priority to ensure this problem will be addressed soon.

In the meantime, the workaround solution is you can rename the file name from "xxx.olf.zip" to "xxx.olf" or save as "QB" file format, and try again.

    Best regards,
    Kavi Lo

    Hi Kavi,

    Thanks for your reply!
Renaming from "xxx.olf.zip" to "xxx.olf" unfortunately doesn't work and the QB file format is not supported by the Windows WhiteBoard running on our ViewBoards.

    Best regards,
    Stéphane
