    • Installing Android app

Is there a trick to getting Android apps to work on the ViewBoard, other than the included apps? I want the native Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive apps, so I can edit documents with my class on the fly, instead of using the ViewBoard as a glorified TV via Windows and Chrome. I can get them installed easy enough through a thumb drive, but they just open and then close immediately. I tried installing via the Play Store, but it doesn't read the ViewBoard as an eligible Android device.

      I downloaded the correct APK's. ARMv8 64-bit. Any thoughts?

I think the firmware version is too old, please download the latest firmware then try again.

Firmware updated successfully, but the issue remains. Our IT guy is calling our local repair tech at some point today. I don't want to step on his toes. So I will let him go from here with facilitating the repair. But for your reference and curiousity, I am at Geneva High School in Geneva, New York, USA.

      Hi Michael:

I am sorry to hear the problem. However, can you answer the following questions?

      • What is the model number of the ViewBoard?
      • What is the firmware version of the ViewBoard?
      • How long has the issue existed?
      • Is the touch panel surface clean?

      Model: VS17435
      Serial: V33193100177

      Kernel version
      3.18.16_s5
      rel@iip #1
      Fri Nov 15 09:37:08 CST 2019
      Build number
      ViewSonic/IFP7550-2_VS17435/IFP7550-2_VS17435:7.0/20191115.091502:user/release-keys

The board is clean. Issue only started yesterday. Got through the first 2 periods, and then 3rd period, it started freaking out. Seems to be mostly the very left side. I have a pic of where it was just thinking the pen was trying to draw, but I'm not sure I can post pics here. If you actually try to draw on the board, the right side works fine, but the left side, gets very intermittent. And the issue comes and goes. Sometimes worse if you are standing too close. I've made due using my laptop and the board as just a TV, with the USB unplugged to avoid the touch crazy affecting my computer. Though even with this method, the side menu arrow will randomly go crazy.

    • Touch Screen Disease

They used to call when an iPhone Touch Screen started to fail, Touch Screen Disease. And my classroom ViewBoard Touch Screen is all out of sorts. Keeps picking up random touches, when no one is even near it, so it is virtually unusable.

      Any ideas or suggestions?

    • RE: AirPlay security code issue in MacOS

@joe-yang-viewsonic-com Thanks. That did the trick for AirPlay. Though I would like that 4-to-6 password issue fixed eventually. I don't want students jumping into my ViewBoard unannounced. Could be very problematic.

      Hi Michael:

"What doesn't work: In MacOS when I attempt the same procedure, the ViewBoard will present me with a 6-digit passcode. HOWEVER, on my Mac, I'm only presented with room for a 4-digit passcode."

Could it be possible that the 4-digit passcode was not the passcode from ViewBoard? Could it be from somewhere else for example Apple TV?

Can you attach a screen shot of the 4-digit passcode and the 6-digit passcode here?

      Thank you.

I will throw together a video with screen shots and get back to you soon.

I can't seem to upload anything without it generating an error.

@joe-yang-viewsonic-com I'm pretty sure that setting only applies to the ViewSender app when I tried it earlier. But I will try it again and let you know.

    • AirPlay security code issue in MacOS

My ViewBoard is completely up-to-date with software and firmware.

What works: When I AirPlay from my iOS and iPadOS devices, the ViewBoard will present me with a 6-digit passcode and I will receive a prompt on my device to enter said 6-digit passcode.

What doesn't work: In MacOS when I attempt the same procedure, the ViewBoard will present me with a 6-digit passcode. HOWEVER, on my Mac, I'm only presented with room for a 4-digit passcode.

I'm not sure if this is an MacOS glitch or a ViewBoard glitch. I also wish you could save the AirPlay passcode on the ViewBoard, so that I can randomly swap devices without typing in the code all of the time. This isn't business critical, because I could just bring in an old AppleTV to do the same thing in my classroom. Thank you in advance for any advice.
